About Us
MJAP is a program under Makerere University School of Medicine and is implemented as a collaborative partnership between Mulago and Mbarara University Teaching hospitals. Established in November 2004 with funding from the United States of America Presidential Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and technical assistance from Centers for Disease Control (CDC), MJAP has provided quality HIV testing, care and treatment at Mulago and Mbarara Teaching Hospitals, their catchment areas and has since extended the services to seven regional referral hospitals namely: Mbale, Kabale, Jinja, Fort Portal, Hoima, Soroti and Masaka. The Program strengthens the host institutions’ capacity for the provision of these services. MJAP collaborates with the Ministry of Health (MoH), the National Tuberculosis Leprosy Program (NTLP), Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC), Baylor Uganda College of Medicine, Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), Protecting Families Against HIV/AIDS (PREFA), Mbarara Municipal Council, Kampala City Council (KCC) and many others.
